Introduction

`WearCam' is a portable, and in fact wearable, system that has many of the features found on a desktop multimedia computer: one or more cameras, microphones, high speed video processing and communications link, as well as its own Internet address. These items are miniaturized and placed within the wearer's clothing and the like, rather than on the desktop. The connectivity is wireless (the details of the communications channel are described in[4]), using hat-mounted antennas, and battery power, so that the user has tetherless online connectivity. The apparatus is worn in a natural fashion, so that it can be used, at times, without (much) conscious thought or effort, and while performing other activities.
