When attempting to reply to their email, they seem to claim that the address they just sent me from is no longer active. But I keep getting email from the address that they allege is no longer active.

That's a new way of doing business: send email from a "no longer active" email address, and require a response be "submitted" by filling out a specific form. In the real world, this might be like sending mail from an abandoned building, and requiring resonses be done on certain special kinds of forms, and ignoring any mail that's not sent in the certain designated manner. This might allow the organization to ignore a court summons, or ignore other legal correspondence. In fact it's an interesting recipe for an organization that would like to operate above the law, or beyond the reach of any law for that matter.
