I live on Dundas Street, and the Dundas streetcar goes past my house
many times a day.

Less than 2 months ago, a tragic incident happened on that streetcar,
with a teenager named Sammy Yatim.

Police arrived to find the boy alone with a knife on the streetcar.
Police, surrounded the streetcar, and from a safe distance, with guns drawn,
asked him to put the knife down.

The boy froze, perhaps in fear, and did not move or drop the knife.

A policeman shot him 3 times.  Then after the boy fell to the ground,
the policeman shot him another 6 times, even though the police were at
a safe distance and vastly outnumbered the boy.

Sammy was also tasered later, after he was already dead.
