Two new books on wearable computing are out this week:

one published by John Wiley and Sons, entitled: "Intelligent Image Processing",
and another called "Cyborg: Digital Destiny and Human Possibility
in the Age of the Wearable Computer", published by Randomhouse Doubleday.

The first book provides a mathematical foundation for wearable computing,
together with practical illustrative examples and new methods of
teaching the fundamentals.  The emphasis of this book is on image based
wearable computing, starting with the original motivation for wearable
computing (as a means for computer-mediated imaging), and covering
Augmented Reality, Mediated Reality, etc. fundamentals.

The second book provides a broader philosophical perspective intended for
the layperson.  This book summarizes more than twenty years of inventing,
designing, building, and wearing computers in everyday life.  It also
touches on privacy issues of wearable computing, with a final chapter
on anthrax preparedness in the context of the mass decontamination
and experimental mailroom facility specifically built for use with
wearable computers.  The book follows roughly the subjects covered in
the 35mm feature length motion picture film "cyberman".
